E.B. Luce uses Xinet WebNative to offer clients ordering and proofing capabilities via the Internet as well as to speed production of high-resolution, multiple gigabyte files. “Customers come in through the Web and look at their work online and in progress. They use it for live proofing. They can also order and select files, put them in a basket and e-mail them to us,” said E.B. Luce CEO Barry Berggren. One of E.B. Luce’s large customers often needs multiple approvals from a number of divisions across the country, so they’re able to send files via e-mail and manage “WebNative has opened lots of doors for us. Our sales people use it to demo to new and prospective clients. People think it’s great,” Berggren said. E.B. Luce salespeople also use WebNative to find and submit reorders of past jobs from existing clients. Trade show clients often use the same graphics repeatedly, changing only the size and shape of output. With WebNative, clients can review an online digital inventory of past jobs. Luce salespeople print out small proofs of each job for submission to the order department. “That takes a lot of guesswork out of it. When you print it out, it has the complete file location path on it, so they easily locate the graphic they want. |
“When submitting the order, the people in digital have no problem finding that file,” Berggren said. E.B. Luce produces many of the large dasher board graphics seen in hockey arenas throughout New England as well as many trade show, airport and museum exhibit banners and backlit transparencies. “Producing these large format graphics is very demanding in terms of resolution and color accuracy. Things need to be very sharp. It really puts [the WebNative platform] through its paces,” Berggren said. In addition, when doing the point of purchase merchandise material for clients like Armani, Chanel and Guess, the output must be exact right color, size and resolution, he said. “Xinet never fails us,” Berggren said. |
