Below, we have complied a list of the most common questions regarding the Xinet WebNative Suite. If you have any questions to submit regarding the WebNative Suite, please send them to marketing@xinet.com. We will be sure to have it answered in our next issue of Xing.
Can I virus check assets prior to delivery to my production/asset server?
Yes. Xinet WebNative Portal can use any third-party virus-checking application to check assets it receives. The virus-checking software quarantines problematic uploaded files, ensuring that they will not be passed on to the production/asset
management server.
I want to dedicate a WebNative Portal server to my development team. Do I need an additional license?
No. The WebNative Portal license allows an unlimited number of WebNative Portal machines to communicate with one WebNative production server. You only need one WebNative Portal license.
Can I have a WebNative Portal machine at my location and another at my client’s location under the same license?
Yes. The WebNative Portal license allows an unlimited number of WebNative Portal servers to communicate with one WebNative production server.
When using multiple servers, do I have to ensure my folder structure, metadata, and privileges match on all the sites for each user?
No. Each site can have its own workflow and unique setup. WebNative Portal can still search across all the sites.
Why is it easier to customize WebNative Portal than WebNative?
WebNative Portal templates can be edited using WYSIWYG applications such as Dreamweaver or GoLive--enabling a web designer without strong programming skills to make effective, intuitive websites.
The PHP engine enables easier development and customization.
Open plug-in architecture makes it possible for you to add custom features.
Asset Timer, Asset Fulfillment Request and Online Approval ship with the product.
Session-based user management enhances security.

Hot Dam! Late Breaking News from the Xinet Users Group
The Xinet Users Group conducted a survey in January 2008 to determine the most important topics XUG could cover in webinars and telephone conferences. The results show that the topic with the highest priority was “What Are the Most Important New Features for Xinet to Develop?” Others topics high on the scale were metadata workflow; implementing WebNative Portal; real-life applications of video support; and best practices for searching inside documents and PDFs. XUG also received excellent write-in suggestions and will amalgamate these into our future event schedule. Three survey prize winners, each of whom received an Amazon gift certificate worth US$25, were chosen: Suzanne Kelly, Fidelity Investments, Boston, USA; Sean Proctor, Telescope Studios, Leeds, UK; and Ken Cruickshanks, Identica Branding & Design, Toronto, Canada.
XUG has announced a series of informal telephone discussions beginning in early March 2008. The sessions will be held at 11 AM US Eastern time, allowing users in many time zones to participate. More sessions will be scheduled, including some at hours convenient for Asia and Australia. Details are on the XUG website at http://www.xinetusersgroup.org. The sessions will be limited to 12 users allowing for open discussions of current concerns, trends, and best practices. XUG is also considering the last week in March to hold its first webinar based on the results of the user survey. Check the XUG website for details.
