Technical Support Engineer - Germany
Xinet is looking for a full time Technical Support Engineer for its Munich office. The ability to read and write in French and English is required.
We manufacture OPI/Digital Asset Management software for the prepress industry and Unix-Macintosh-Windows networking software. Xinet is a company based in Berkeley, California that has been in operation since 1991. It has had an office in Munich, Germany since 2000.
The day-to-day tasks of the job are as follows:
Supporting Xinet's products (FullPress, WebNative, WebNativeVenture, and Portal) require familiarity with AppleTalk Networking, IP Networking, Macintosh File Sharing, Print Spooling, Postscript, RIPs, Trapping, Adobe layout and image manipulation products (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat), PDFs, OPI replacement, QuarkXPress, Internet Browsers, SQL, JavaScript, Apache webservers, Unix system administration, Windows system administration, script writing, backup and archiving solutions, and more.
To apply for this job you do NOT need expertise in all these areas. However, you must be someone who learns quickly, who likes to be challenged, and who can communicate complex ideas IN WRITING.

The job involves a lot of writing, sometimes on complex topics. At some point in the interview process, all applicants will be asked to write a short essay (in English) on either their strengths as a worker or their perspective on how to best solve software problems. Initial applications with an accompanying essay will be reviewed first.
Employees in the Munich office work in the Berkeley, CA office once or twice a year. These trips last a minimum of two weeks.
