DAM Training - Introduction to Developing for WebNative Portal
Course pre-requisites: Proficiency in HTML and at least one of the following: AppleScript, php, or JavaScript.
This one-day course is intended for beginning WebNative Portal developers who want to become familiar with the tools available for WebNative Portal customization.
Instruction will cover the range of programming opportunities to adapt and extend WebNative Portal functionality to meet the needs of individual sites. Attendees will learn how to use advanced WebNative Portal tags, apply AppleScript and php to WebNative Portal, as well as utilize JSON output from Portal Data Interchange(portalDI) on the WebNative server.
The course will present examples of WebNative Portal development customizations, and give users the opportunity to practice. Tag manipulation will be discussed, including creating new tags, editing existing tags, and the use of more advanced tags to customize functionality. AppleScripting via Asset Browser—through drag-and-drop, InDesign menu items, and WebNative Portal AppleScript Buttons—will be demonstrated and you will create your own simple examples. Finally, to show the possibilities for output from the portalDI, the class will create a Dashboard Widget to search for files on the WebNative server.
